Women of Hope (WOH) was founded in 2006 by Maria Ashmore, a breast cancer survivor.
Women of Hope consists of a Board of Directors, a Professional Advisory Board (PAB), and Members, all who have in some way been affected by breast cancer. Members of the Board are dedicated to the operation of the organization as well as mentoring breast cancer patients and survivors. Many Women of Hope members have first-hand experience with breast cancer. Our empathy is an effective tool for supporting individuals and families and providing them with a living portrait of HOPE!
Members of the medical community who specialize in cancer treatment are enthusiastic supporters and many serve on the group’s professional advisory board.
The Women of Hope logo of two angels locking hands connected by the pink breast cancer ribbon is symbolic of strength, courage, friendship, and the bond of HOPE for those coping with breast cancer.
Our Values
WOMEN OF HOPE is a non-profit Foundation for Breast Cancer Support and is classified by the U. S. Department of the Treasury as a 501(c)3 organization under the code of the Internal Revenue Service.
The mission of Women of Hope is to provide education, promote awareness, and offer HOPE and encouragement for individuals and families coping with breast cancer.
Women of Hope (WOH) stands for Women Of Montgomery Embracing and Nurturing Hope Of Prevention and Eradication of Breast Cancer. This compassionate organization is dedicated to providing education, promoting awareness, and offering HOPE and encouragement to individuals and families coping with breast cancer.
Women of Hope (WOH) was formed to support breast cancer patients, survivors, and their families. Our members, including survivors, spouses, children, and caregivers, seek daily support to manage the effects of the disease.
Run by volunteers, WOH provides educational tools and community support to help with the emotional and physical challenges of diagnosis and treatment. Many of us have firsthand experience with breast cancer, giving us unique insights and empathy to uplift families and offer hope. We believe a woman supported by others is stronger than one standing alone.
We offer free monthly support group meetings for patients, survivors, caregivers, family, friends, and anyone interested. These meetings feature panels with physicians, health and wellness speakers, and personal stories from survivors, creating a space for connection and fellowship.
Join Women of Hope as we give hope, promote healing, and support our community.
Women of Hope is led by a Board of Directors and a Professional Advisory Board.
Maria B. Ashmore
Maria founded Women of Hope (Women Of Montgomery Embracing and Nurturing Hope Of Prevention and Eradication of Breast Cancer) in October 2006 to educate, promote awareness and provide hope and encouragement for those families coping with breast cancer. No matter where you are on your journey, the power of support can never be underestimated. HOPE is the assurance that one day we’ll be able to live cancer-free!
The Women of Hope’s inaugural luncheon and fashion show fundraiser event was held in October 2006. Since then, we have become a growing organization hoping to expand to multiple fundraising events each year. As a breast cancer survivor, Maria felt that there is a need to promote breast cancer awareness in our community. Women of Hope is striving to be a community for the cause!
“Breast cancer does not define me as a woman…..but, the fight for a cure does!” We are in this fight together. You never know when you may hear those four dreaded words, “You have breast cancer”. Help is desperately needed to give Hope and help to those families struggling with this disease. “Cancer is like a terrorist. You never know when it’s going to strike.”
Please consider donating to support our efforts to educate, promote awareness, and provide HOPE to families currently coping with the effects of breast cancer. Your contribution can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most, helping us continue our compassion and support mission. Together, we can make a lasting impact and bring light to those facing their darkest moments.
